Pamela Hawkins Firmin

Pamela Hawkins Firmin passed away on August 22, 2018 at Crosslands Continuing Care Retirement Community, Kennett Square, PA.

Pam was born on 26th June 1927, was 91 years old and the second daughter of Percy and Florence Lee of Normanton, Yorksire, England.
Pam received her School Certificate (Joint Matriculation Board) from Normanton Girls High School in July 1945 and went on to Avery Hill Training College, University of London receiving a Teacher's Certificate. She took teaching positions at several local schools in Castleford before going on to teach at the Royal Naval School, Verdala, Malta where she spent some of the happiest years of her life.
Pam lived in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, NY for over 40 years. She gained great pleasure being in the presence of the very young. This manifested itself in the pleasure she enjoyed bonding with them both as a teacher and in later life as Director of the Sunday School at Christ Church Tarrytown, and in her work as an assistant in the Children's Room at the Warner Library, Tarrytown.
Pam married Ray Firmin of Ilford, Essex, England in 1960, came to the US in 1963 with Ray and became a citizen in 1993.
Pam is survived by her sister Barbara of Banwell, Somerset, England, her husband Ray of 58 years as well as three sons, Simon, Peter and Alistair. She is also survived by three daughters in law, Rene, Lisa and Kate and ten grandchildren, Delaney, Ryan, Griffin, Allison, Jane, Matthew, Andrew, William, Elisabeth and Sarah.
Pam was an avid reader and had a great interest in the stage. She was member of the Normanton & District Amateur Operatic Society, the Malta Amateur Dramatic Society and the dramatic societies in all three military services in Malta.
Pam was a devoted wife and homemaker, caring for her husband and three sons whom she adored. Her life at Crosslands included several stage appearances with the Crossland Players as well as participation in the Music Time and Sing Along Programs.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date as well as a Memorial and Celebration of Life at Crosslands.
Funeral Services were handled by Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, Kennett Square, PA.
