Patricia B. Brady, 86, Sleepy Hollow Resident

Patricia B. Brady, 86, of Sleepy Hollow, NY, died on January 27, 2015, at the Veterans Nursing Home in Montrose NY. She was born on April 3, 1928 in Ossining, New York.

Patricia Burke Bloom was the youngest child of Edwin C. Bloom and Julia O’Herron. She attended Park School and graduated from St. Augustine School. She graduated from Ossining High School in 1945 and was cast in a leading role in the senior play for that year. She received her RN from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in New York City, and then worked at the Ossining Hospital in the operating room. She met her husband Dr. William E Brady there, and they were married on April 26, 1952 at St Augustine’s Church.

She moved with her husband to Sleepy Hollow at the time of the establishment of Phelps Memorial Hospital in North Tarrytown and she raised her four children there, who all graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School.

“Pat” was able to serve as a girl scout leader, was a political supporter for select candidates, and was a volunteer at the Westchester Medical Center in the recovery room. She enjoyed sailing, curling, dancing and golf.

She loved each of her grandchildren and was very proud to watch them grow from infants to caring young adults. In her later years, it would always make her happy when they would come to visit. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a mother who devoted herself to raising and educating her children, and a loving grandmother.

Mrs. Brady was predeceased by her husband, Dr. William E. Brady, on April 4, 2002, and by her older brothers, William, James and Robert. She is survived by her children, Sheila (Wallace) of Middletown NY, William and Arthur of Ossining NY, Dr. James Brady of Danville, PA, and her grandchildren, Mary Brady, Rachel Wallace, and Patrick, Katherine and Meaghan Brady. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 10:00 a.m., at St. Augustine’s Church, 381 N. Highland Ave., Ossining, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, Hudson Valley Chapter, 785 Mamaroneck Road, White Plains, NY 10605.
