Pedestrian Struck, Killed On I-287
The woman was with another person who was not injured, police said.
GREENBURGH, NY — A pedestrian on I-287 was killed early Saturday when she was struck by a tractor trailer in the town of Greenburgh. The New York State Police said the incident happened shortly after 4 a.m.
Police said that Joseph E. Crabtree, 55, of Homosassa, Florida, was driving his 2012 Kenworth tractor trailer east in the right lane of I-287, near mile marker 2.5, when he observed someone walking in the roadway.
He was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian who was identified as Jailene Ramirez-Barrios, 20, of White Plains, according to police.

The woman was accompanied by Juan M. Serrano, 37, of Newark, Wayne County. He was uninjured.
Ramirez-Barrios was pronounced dead at the scene by the Westchester County Medical Examiner.

Crabtree was not injured and showed no signs of impairment, police said.
The accident was reconstructed by the state police Troop K Collision Reconstruction Unit and remains an ongoing investigation, police said.
