Raccoon Run-In Turned Into One Woman Show

Staci Swedeen was attacked by the animal when she was living in Sleepy Hollow in 2003.

When Staci Swedeen returned to her Sleepy Hollow home in 2003 after a day of running errands, she was fiercely attacked by a rabid raccoon that left a large wound on her foot.

Though the situation went from bad to worse with doctors saying that a secondary infection she contracted from the bite would require them to amputate her left let—she somehow found humor in it all.  Sweeden, who now lives in Tennessee and is the executive produce of the Flying Anvil Theatre, recants the tale in her new one-woman show “Pardon Me For Living: A Biting Comedy” showing at the Piccolo Spoleto in South Carolina, the Charleston City Paper reports.

Sweeden, who now as a large collection of raccoon items, said her story takes a lighter look at life and proves that using humor is the ideal way to tackle its ups and downs.
