HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Winter continues to sputter in a soggy fashion across the Hudson Valley. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Dutchess County for Monday night and Wednesday night.

For the whole region, the NWS predicts a return to sunshine on Wednesday, just long enough for a new storm system to arrive.

Orange, Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester could see rain, snow and sleet Wednesday night but little to no accumulation.

For Dutchess County, the storm system may bring a period of light to moderate snow overnight Monday and mixed precipitation including sleet or spotty freezing rain for Wednesday night into Thursday.

Then temperatures will plummet everywhere, from highs in the mid-40s on Thursday to lows dipping as far as single digits Friday night with wind chill values below zero.

Here's the day-by-day forecast for northern Westchester:

  • Today-Light rain likely. Highs in the mid 40s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
  • Tonight-Cloudy. A chance of light rain in the evening, then light rain likely after midnight. Lows in the mid 30s. West winds around 5 mph, becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of rain 70 percent.
  • Tuesday-Light rain likely. Highs in the mid 40s. Northeast winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
  • Tuesday Night-Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of light rain in the evening. Lows in the lower 30s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
  • Wednesday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 40s. Northwest winds around 5 mph, becoming southwest in the afternoon.
  • Wednesday Night-Cloudy. A chance of rain in the evening, then rain, snow and light sleet likely after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation. Lows in the lower 30s. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.
  • Thursday-Cloudy. Rain likely, mainly in the morning. Highs in the upper 40s. Chance of rain 60 percent.
  • Thursday Night-Mostly cloudy in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Cooler with lows 15 to 20.
  • Friday-Sunny. Much colder with highs in the mid 20s. Wind chill values as low as zero.
  • Friday Night-Mostly clear. Cold with lows around 10 above. Wind chill values as low as 5 below.
