The first and only goal occurred within the first few minutes of the game when Mackenzie Linhart had a breakaway down the field. The remainder of the game was fought hard by all players on defense and offense. Coaches Glynn and Levine did an excellent job of allowing players to experience many different positions on the field. Standouts in the first half included Natalia Hargrave at center defense clearing balls well before they reach the goal, Marianna Patsch at midfield staying close to her mark and not letting anyone beat her speed, and Sabrina Graham in goal making 4 great saves! Ada Chalfy displayed some excellent teamwork with great communication and passing, Noa Levine made a few great touches on offense and took the ball, and Lily Glynn wowed the fans with her strong and powerful goal kicks.

The Second half featured mostly defensive play with Katie Yalmokas making good blocks on defense and Melodie Molina stealing the ball from the opponents several times and keeping it in play. The team did a great job thwarting the opponents' attempt at goal and several corner kicks were denied by the Bandits to keep the score at a 1-0 final. The Bandits have this weekend off and return to the field on Sunday, April 28 to play New Rochelle Purple Rebels on our home field at Pocantico Hills School.

2010 Boys Shadows faced worthy opponents in Chappaqua this past Sunday. The first half of the game with Chappaqua Navy saw a lot of action, but no scoring. After halftime, the Shadows re-focused efforts on passing, as well as dribbling and footwork. The goal is 100 passes per game. The boys worked together and had some amazing passes, assists and eventually goals. Nico Barbosa broke the tie with the first of his two goals. Elion Ashiru, Luca Bruno and Leandro Santorum added three more spectacular tallies in the 5-1 victory. Timely passing was provided by Bobby Gonzalez, Andrew Lucchetti, Matthew Bartolacci, Joaquin Rodriguez and Kellen McGuire. Leo Zohar played goalie the entire game and had some stellar saves. The boys have no games this weekend and will return to face White Plains on Sunday April 28.

2009 Girls Red Fury, coached by Katie McMahon, tied Wolfgang Lady Wolves this week, with a final score of 1-1. The Wolves scored their goal within the first half. It was a tight second half with Red Fury’s Meghan McMahon saving many shots on goal and the offense applying steady pressure. Ultimately Rose Ritz scored with time running down, assisted by Rachel Richardson, tying the game. The muddy battle was fierce with all the girls having the dirt to show for it.

2009 Boys United played very competitive on the road against a strong and much larger Yonkers team, falling by a 6-2 score. The game was much closer than the score indicated as most of the match we were within 1 goal until the last 5 minutes. United had 12 shots on goal with 3 shots that were just inches away from going in. The whole team had great chemistry from passing to ball control and strong defense. United goals were scored by Caesar Blanco and Jayden Morocho. Next game is April 28th in Hastings.

2009 Boys Red Lions Coming off a strong 7-2 win over the Riverdale Green Vipers, the Sleepy Hollow FC Red Lions took on visitors, Mount Pleasant Wildcats, on Sunday at Pocantico field and had another strong performance. Samuel Quezada led the charge with a hat trick, Ralfy Rodriguez netted two and Guigo Dias and Josue Vallejo each punched one home. Hanover Gottlock, Dexter Scheller and Guigo Dias were outstanding on defense, continually frustrating any offensive efforts from the Wildcats. In an overall great effort from the Red Lions, the final score was 7-2. The Red Lions take a week off and next host Manhattan Derby at home on April 28.

2008 Girls Red Comets, coached by Joe Block and Sven Armster, were edged out 3-2 at home against the Chappaqua Cyclones. On April 28 at 4:45pm, they will host the West Side Red Bulls at Hackley School field.

2008 Boys Fusion hosted a nailbiter this week against the Manhattan United at home. Both teams were looking for their first win of the season. It was deadlocked for much of the first half until shortly before halftime, Manhattan went up 1-0 on a penalty kick, quickly followed by an offensive surge that put Manhattan up 2-0 into halftime.

Shortly into the second half, Jezrael Panama was able to get Fusion on the board, thanks to an assist from Ian Papadopoulos. Energized, Fusion’s offense picked up the tempo and was able to score again when Jack Zhunio, Panama and Papadopoulos all rushed the goal, with likely Zhunio getting the score.

The defense, most notably led by Aiden Lee and Raul Socualaya, was excellent through much of the second half. Fusion went ahead 3-2 when Papadopoulos dispossessed a defender at midfield and scored on a breakaway.

Pierce Davis capably spent the full game as goalie, and had some excellent saves in an onslaught of attempts from a very physical Manhattan team. Unfortunately, there were holes in the tired Fusion defense which allowed Manhattan to score their equalizer with 30 seconds left to play.

Coaches George Papadopoulos, Ken Mackiewicz and Michael Degen saw Fusion play with determination. While not the first time this team has been down 2-0 this spring, it was the first time that Fusion rallied and showed their true potential as a team. On April 28, Fusion will travel to the Scarsdale Dortmund.

2008 Boys River Sharks rallied for a 7-1 win against Shrub Oak. The River Sharks D played strong against some formidable opponents, and Midis and strikers found some nice passing rhythm. They host the LMFC Gold Knights at 12noon at Hackley School field on April 28.

2007 Girls Blaze won their game this week against Somers in the Division 1 U-12 WYSL Girls Division by a score of 4 - 0.

A very tough, physical game throughout, the most memorable kick in the first half was from Blaze defender Gabby Disney who's strike from midfield was on target against the opposing net some 40 yards away and only a leaping deflection by the opposing goalie kept the game scoreless. The Blaze finally broke through with 4 minutes remaining in the first half when Sami Marvin threw in to Gemma Fante, who had a well placed kick past a diving Somers goalie.

In the second half Blaze forward Gemma Fante had a fine pass to Sami Marvin who's quick strike put the Blaze ahead 2 - 0. Julissa Cassiano scored for the Blaze moments later dribbling past three different Somers defenders and kicking the ball to the corner of the net past an on rushing Somers goalie. The celebration was short-lived however when just minutes later Lizzie Molina, who had played a great game as forward for the Blaze and had several strong kicks on goal that were denied by the opposing goalie, was kicked in the ankle. Carried off the field by Blaze Coach John Sutherland, Annette O'Hanlon took off her Team Manager hat and put on her Team Mom hat and tended to Lizzie with both hugs and ice.

Ahead 3 - 0, the Blaze emphasized defense, and with midfielders Kayla McGuigan, and Zoey Murphy working as a team, few Somers passes went past midfield. In addition, Meghan O'Hanlon, Ellie Fox and Penny McVey played very well as defenders allowing few shots on goal in the second half. Backing up the strong defense was Blaze goalie Emily Aridas who continued using techniques taught at the midweek SHFC goalie practices, to record 12 saves in the game, including one shot on goal in the first half from an opposing player taken in the box.

The Blaze scored their final goal of the game when a throw in by Juliana Marvin to forward Julissa Casiano, fell between the opposing goalie and two Somers defenders who failed to communicate who should take the ball. Never giving up on the play, Julissa squeezed the ball through the narrowest of opening to record her second goal of the game.

The Blaze remained undefeated, and unscored upon this season. Off for Easter and Passover, in two weeks the Blaze will be playing against the Munay Earthquakes in the team's first away match of the season.

2007 Boys Dynamo travelled to the Greenburgh United Hornets and prevailed 6-3. They will host the LMFC Yellow Gunners at Hackley School at 4:30pm on Sunday, April 28.

2007 Boys Dutchmen won 4-2 on the road against the Manhattan Cosmos. On Sunday April 28, they will host the New Rochelle Vikings at 1:30pm at Hackley School field.

2006 Girls Storm won 2-0 vs the Manhattan Comets at Randalls Island. Storm benefited from two early goals that proved enough to win. Emily Orellana scored her 4th goal in two games. Nelli Rodriguez added a second goal early. The team is playing well together as they look forward to their home game on April 28, at 2pm at Washington Irving school against the LMFC Yellow Wildcats.

2006 Boys Firebolts, coached by Ricardo Gonzalez, won 5-1 at home against the Rye Rogue Wave. The Firebolts will travel to the Port Chester Mustangs on Sunday, April 28.

2006 Boys Warriors fell 3-1 at home against the Alba Sharks. On Sunday April 28, they will travel to the New Rochelle Arrows.

2005 Girls Cyclones played a well-matched game against Port Chester Golden Cats. The teams were well matched as the Golden Cats were fast and physical, constantly attacking. The Cyclones were defensive and reacted to each attack with many well executed counter attacks. Eleven minutes in the Cyclones broke through and Thalia T. shot on goal. The shot rebounded off the goalie, and Colleen C. who has been excellent at trailing shots picked it up to finish scoring! The Cyclones found themselves up 1-0. It took to almost the end of the first half for the Golden Cats to even the score with a lofted shot out of the reach of goalie Ywomie M. The game would go to the Golden Cats 2-1. However, this game was held close by the Cyclone’s defense, which was anchored by Isabelle M. She helped to direct and motivate the other defenders Amy T., Emily R. Natalie R. and Shea B. who as a unit helped the Cyclone play a competitive game.

2005 Boys Legends fell 3-1 on the road against the Port Chester Tigers. On April 28, they travel to the Castleford Tornadoes.

2005 Boys Red Devils travelled to the LMFC Orange Wolves and came away with a 6-3 victory. The Red Devils, coached by Francisco Mendieta, Mark Taylor, and Cedric Smith, travel to the Manahattan Mustangs on April 28.

JV Girls Strikers had no game this weekend, but will visit the Shrub Oak Empire on Sunday, April 28.

JV Boys Los Gauchos Short-handed due to Spring break, Los Gauchos started with just 9 players and played in horrible field conditions. They managed a 3-3 tie after giving up 3 leads. Opponent scored with 10 seconds remaining. The team was disappointed with their play and will use it as motivation in their next away match. Goals were scored by Rashid, Mateo and Jhonatan.

2002 Varsity Girls Mustangs fell 0-3 to first place Shrub Oak under the lights of Lakeland high school’s home field. The Mustangs moved up varsity division one which is meant for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Shrub Oak fielded a talented senior laden team with explosive forwards and large impenetrable middle defenders. The Sleepy Hollow girls started 5 freshmen and actually played quite well. They couldn’t penetrate the middle but wingers Arianna Vizcaino and Juliana Largess were able to make wide runs and send several promising crosses that just missed scoring. Britany Alban’s ball control wizardry continued at midfield setting up several nice runs. Sophie Sylves-Berry arrived just in time from her Virginia school band trip to lead the defense. Sophie made a second-half move from her outside defensive spot to center back to successfully match up with the Shrub Oak Star forward. Olivia Hille continues to impress at keeper with many saves of hard shots on goal and taking charge of her box. Taylor Burnett provided some senior leadership and muscle at midfield as Abby Oppenheim remained dangerous at forward. The Mustangs next have their home opener in two weeks in a rematch against a senior-laden Rivertowns United. Their first matchup ended in a 1-1 tie. The Mustangs chose to play in the toughest division of older teams an so-far they have enjoyed the higher competition.

2002 Varsity Boys Horsemen won by forfeit against the Eastchester Strikers. On Sunday April 28, they host the Valhalla Vikings at 3:45 at Washington Irving school field.
