Showers, Thunderstorms In Forecast For Parts Of Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — For the first day in a while there are no weather alerts in the Hudson Valley — yet. However, there is the possibility of showers and thunderstorms in some parts of the region.

"In the wake of a cold front that brought severe thunderstorms to portions of the East Coast Thursday night, temperatures and humidity levels will be on a downward trend to end the week," said Ryan Adamson, AccuWeather meteorologist.

You won't need a sweater, though, because the highs will still be in the upper 80s to low 90s through the weekend.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible in Westchester and Rockland counties, while showers are in the forecast for Putnam.

Only the mid-Hudson Valley area's forecast is precipitation free for Friday.

Here is the forecast through the weekend for northern Westchester from the National Weather Service:

• Friday: A slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 85. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Friday Night: Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Calm wind.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.
• Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 71.

Here is the mid-Hudson Valley's forecast:

• Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. North wind around 6 mph.
• Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 67. Light north wind.
• Saturday: Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 89. Light and variable wind.
• Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 70. Light southwest wind.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 71.
