The Sleepy Hollow Football Club enters the final weeks of the Fall 2020 season and it’s been anything but usual. Teams have demonstrated strength, adaptability and a continued drive to grow, learn and succeed. Here are a few of the past weekend’s highlights:
CHAOS has been working hard and on Sunday, played one of the best games that coach Torsie Judkins and Kevin Richardson had ever seen them play. The team showed a lot of hustle, teamwork, and overall enthusiasm at their game Sunday in Pleasantville. Chaos will take on the same Pleasantville team for a rescheduled game this coming Saturday and will travel to Harrison on Sunday for their last game of the fall season. Working hard and having fun, Chaos has also been enjoying spirited scrimmages with the Bandits, the team one year older than them, during their Saturday practices at Pocantico school field.
After a hard-fought but disappointing loss last week at home to Greenburgh, the All Reds U10 Boys got a huge win on Sunday versus Yorktown. Avenging an earlier season loss to this team, our boys in red got a 5-0 win on this warm November day. Our team played aggressive and inspired soccer and really took it to the home team. Goal scorers were our identical twin duos Dennis and Ryck Van Lent and Oliver and Elliot Scherich. Shout-out to Phil Coffman for multiple assists and kudos for the whole team for working so hard to put together two great halves of soccer.

The Red Fury decisively won against the North Salem Tigercats 6-0. The Red Fury completely dominated the game with pressure, tight defense, and an attacking line that overwhelmed the Tigercats. Mia Gurreri scored the first goal for the Red Fury by driving a ball into goal. Sofia Cruz had the second goal from a free kick approximately 40 yards out and which was awarded to the Red Fury for a handball. Rachel Richardson, Meadow Gurreri, and Meghan McMahon worked together to get the 3rd goal in. Meghan assisted in the next 3 goals. Working on the left wing, she fed passes to Julia Maad two times for goals 4 and 5, and another pass to Natalie Coffman for the final goal of the game. The defensive line of Swara Ketkar, Kate Masters, and Meadow Gurreri ensured that the ball remained on the Tigercats side of the field. Breanne Rodriguez and Rachel applied constant pressure on the Tigercats throughout the game. Meghan played goalie the first half, and Rose Ritz played the second half. Rose had a great save that kept the Tigercats scoreless. The Red Fury is coached by Katie McMahon.
FUSION travelled to the Doxa-Wolfgang TWolves on a warm November Sunday. The first half started slow but even, with Fusion getting a big morale boost when Pierce Davis gave a sliding kick to clear a goal attempt. Finally, in minute 33 of the first half, Sebastian Londono would score and Fusion went into halftime with momentum. Josh Ortiz sent a booming kick to the goal in minute 17 of the second half to improve Fusion's lead and just five minutes later, Edwin Dutan would score one of his own. Sean Mackiewicz also scored with five minutes left to play, to give his team a final score of 4-0.

Fusion improve to 5-0-2 and currently lead their division in points with one week left to play, although with some teams having two games left to play this fall season, Fusion's path to the championship remains a bit unclear. They will travel on Sunday to the Landsdowne Yonkers Meteors.
The Varsity Girls Mustangs remain undefeated after beating Riverdale 2-0. Riverdale had the second best defense in the league at kick off but after giving up 2 goals to the Mustangs they dropped to third. The Mustangs controlled the game and had many scoring opportunities that Riverdale thwarted throughout most of the day. Felisha finally broke through with the first score off an Arianna Vizcaino assist. Arianna constantly drew triple teams freeing up other Mustangs. The Mustangs held a 1 goal lead for most of the game and had full control but one miscue almost resulted in an equalizer for Riverdale. Fortunately, their midfielder shot too high. Finally, player of the game Kathleen Sicha used her non-stop hustle and ball control wizardry to free up Talia Fante. Talia beat the talented Riverdale keeper with a well placed left footer. The Mustang defense of Annie Dineen, Sophie Sylves-Berry, Lily Rodriguez, Arianna, Evelin ChaCha and keeper Julia Costa earned their second shutout and has only allowed 8 goals in 6 games. The defense climbed to second ranked and the offense remained top ranked with 26 goals in 6 games. The Mustangs were also without many players Sunday and would like to thank younger players Ashley from the Storm as well as (even younger) Zoey and Juliana from the Blaze for helping out. The Mustangs next face undefeated Don Bosco with the premier league championship on the line. The game will feature the mustang top offense and second ranked defense against the Don Bosco top defense and second ranked offense.
