Sleepy Hollow Officer Wins Discrimination Lawsuit
The jury awarded the police officer $250,000, which the village has a month to challenge.
SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — A Hispanic police officer in Sleepy Hollow was awarded $250,000 Tuesday by a federal jury.
The jury found Officer Hector Rosario had been discriminated and retaliated against after he complained about Facebook posts by white officers and for suing the village, the Journal News reported.
The village of Sleepy Hollow claimed that Rosario, a 12-year veteran of the police department, was a disgruntled employee and that the complaints had nothing to do with him being Hispanic.
