Snow Estimates Increase: Tuesday's Hudson Valley Storm

The latest forecast shows an increase in possible snow totals for some parts of the Hudson Valley.

Snow and rain continue to be in the forecast for a storm Tuesday that is poised to move through the Hudson Valley. However, even since the forecasts posted Monday morning, there have been changes in what can be expected.

Parts of the Sound Shore were earlier thought to have little or no snow accumulation by nightfall Tuesday. Now there's excepted to be a half-inch or less of snow.

And at 3:44 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester counties in effect from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m Wednesday.

Snow total estimates have increased for that area from a light accumulation to 2 to 5 inches.

The NWS said that motorists should plan on slippery road conditions, and the hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes.
