Tarrytown's Second CVS Opens Oct. 28

CVS is coming soon to Bridge Plaza, but no trace (yet) of that green grocer we were promised.

CVS spokesperson from their Rhode Island headquarters, Mike DeAngelis, says the opening date for Tarrytown’s second CVS store/full-service pharmacy is slated for October 28.

Things are coming along over there and it’s all looking very CVS-like. Although you might note: quite a bit bigger than average.

“Normally our East Coast stores are closer to 13,000 square feet, so at 20,000, this does have excess,” DeAngelis said.

Whether some of that excess would be going to the fresh produce the Village bargained for in exchange for losing a Stop and Shop here (especially for seniors in close proximity), DeAngelis didn’t exactly know. CVS is just a tenant here and the landlord remains the owner Stop and Shop. (Stop and Shop officials could not yet be reached for comment.)

Deangeles did later confirm that there is a sublease space available at the site with no subtenant in place there “at this time.” While he didn’t know the square footage of the subspace, he thought it wouldn’t be nearly as big as the 7,000 square foot differential in their typical store size compared to this one. “It’s smaller, probably in the 1,000 square foot range,” he said.

For now, workers are putting finishing touches on the shiny, new and vast CVS interior – wiring, computer installation, and then, finally, inventory.

The grand opening, said DeAngeles, will be "more soft" with grand opening specials most likely happening a week or so after that.
