Sleepy Hollow MS/HS Lockdown Lifted: UPDATE

UPDATE: TARRYTOWN, NY — Tarrytown school district officials said police determined there was no immediate threat to students or staff at Sleepy Hollow Middle/High School Friday after a threatening message was found on a classroom whiteboard.

All after-school activities at the middle and high schools were canceled for Friday and a controlled dismissal was begun around 4 p.m., according to a Facebook post.

Other schools were dismissed at their regular times, after school officials consulted with the Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow police.

TARRYTOWN, NY — Sleepy Hollow Middle/High School has been placed on lockdown Friday because of a threatening message written on a classroom whiteboard, according to a Facebook post from the district.

School officials said the message was found when the teacher returned for class.

"Out of an abundance of precaution, we have placed the middle/high school on a lockdown as police investigate the situation," officials said.

The other buildings have been placed on lockout.

The Tarrytown police said they are assisting Sleepy Hollow and the public schools.
