What business are you in? I am the owner and operator of Fitness Machine Technicians in the Lower Hudson Valley. We service, repair and perform preventative maintenance on a wide variety of fitness equipment in every workout environment — from gyms to universities to personal home gyms.

How did you come up with the name? I’m part of a national franchise — Fitness Machine Technicians’ headquarters is based in Philadelphia and we have a growing footprint across the U.S. Our name says exactly what we do!

Why start a business in this town? I live in Tarrytown and wanted to start a business in a community I know and love! There’s a definite need for this kind of service — the gym I go to often has “out of order” signs on equipment and I know that with all of the local universities and corporate complexes, the upkeep of fitness equipment in important. I’m excited to open a business that specifically services fitness machines — it’s important to ensure that they’re safe and operating at their peak so that both gym owners and patrons are happy.

What's the most difficult challenge you've faced as a business owner? Since I'm still just starting out, I can't yet identify the most challenging aspect of my business, but I'm confident I'll be able to handle anything that gets thrown at me!

What's been your proudest achievement since opening? There have been quite a few already, but before I even opened to the public, I received several inquiries from future customers — and was excited to see the immediate interest!

How does your business give back to the community? I’m a proud supporter of the arts in my community, and also frequently volunteer as a photographer at area school sporting events and local running races with my brother-in-law. I plan to sponsor the Rivertown Runners!
