Thunderstorms, Hail Possible In Hudson Valley Monday
Precipitation is in the forecast for the majority of the workweek.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for the Hudson Valley Monday. The National Weather Service has issued hazardous weather outlooks for the region.
For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester, the forecast calls for numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms Monday afternoon. The storms will mainly produce heavy downpours, gusty winds and small hail, but a few storms may briefly be able to produce strong to damaging wind gusts and hail up to 1 inch in diameter.
In addition, there is potential for localized urban and poor drainage flooding.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected in Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties as well, mainly during Monday afternoon and evening.
Some thunderstorms may contain small hail.

In addition, thunderstorms may contain locally heavy downpours, with flooding of poor drainage and low-lying areas possible.
Tuesday and Wednesday in the mid-Hudson Valley will likely see showers and thunderstorms again.
Here is the forecast for the workweek for northern Westchester County from the National Weather Service:
- Monday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
- Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm, then a slight chance of showers. Patchy fog after 10pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Tuesday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Wednesday: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Wednesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.
- Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
- Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 66.
- Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
- Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.
