Tropical Storm Elsa: How Hudson Valley Might Be Affected
Elsa is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Whether or not the Hudson Valley is impacted by Tropical Storm Elsa is yet to be seen, but meteorologists are saying it will likely track up the east coast.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Elsa is located in the Gulf of Mexico off the west coast of southern Florida. It has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. It is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday.
The National Weather Service is predicting Elsa will be off the coast of New York and Long Island by 8 a.m. Friday.

The current forecast for the Hudson Valley for Friday calls for rain, which could be heavy at times. Precipitation could be between 1 and 2 inches.
However, the cold front that is bringing rain and possible thunderstorm Thursday and Friday could affect what Elsa does in the Hudson Valley.

Eyewitness News meteorologist Jeff Smith said the combination of the front and Elsa could enhance thunderstorms in our area "and the potential for heavy rain and gusty winds."
Until the region is going to experience another couple of days of high temperatures, along with showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.
