Upstate Man Accused Of Having Cocaine During Traffic Stop
The car was stopped on the Thruway and probable cause was established to search it and its occupants.
GREENBURGH, NY — An upstate man was accused of having illegal drugs after a traffic stop on the Thruway. The New York State Police said troopers stopped a car on I-87 in the town of Greenburgh around 2:40 a.m. Saturday for a vehicle and traffic violation.
While interviewing the driver, police said probable cause was established to search the car and everyone in it.
One of the passengers, Luke J. Powell, 30, of Troy, was found to have about 2.7 grams of powder cocaine, police said.

He was taken into custody and processed at the Tarrytown barracks.
Powell was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a felony.

He was released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Greenburgh Court Sept. 25.
