Girls 2011 Chaos, coached by John Sutherland and Kevin Richardson, won their final game 4-1 Sunday at home in Pocantico against Rye Spirit. The girls showed great improvement over the season with their passing game, shooting and defense. The first half was scoreless, thanks to the amazing goalie skills of Arlie Judkins who was able to save several shots on goal by Rye. Ella Judkins was unstoppable on defense and offense, easily taking the ball from Rye and many times carrying it up the field to shoot on goal. Claire and Rebecca Richardson each took a side as half backs and were able to move the ball well away from their opponents and shuttle the ball up to strikers Allie Baldwin, Olivia Michael and Piper Mackey.
As the 2nd half started, Saffron Kelly was able to score a goal for the Chaos putting them up 1-0. The second goal of the game was a result of a great combination play starting with Savannah Stanek passing to Claire Richardson and a finish by Ella Judkins. Gabriella Monachelli scored the Chaos' third goal, proving it is great being in the right place at the right time. Rye was able to get one goal by Arlie Judkins, but the Chaos were quick to get a fourth goal. Rebecca Richardson sent an amazing midfield pass to the front of the goal and Piper Mackey was able to put it in the back of the net.

The Chaos finished the season 5-3.
2010 Girls Bandits travelled to the Yorktown Tornadoes. The score is not available. On Sunday November 17, the Bandits will close out their season with a 12:15 home game against the Eastchester Pride at Pocantico Hills School.
2010 Boys Shadows finished their fall season with a home win against the Eastchester Warriors. Coaches Gary Fairley, Dipo Ashiru, and Aaron Lucchetti, and their very hardworking team, have extended their win streak to 29 games and are the division winners in their age group’s division 3. Congratulations!
2009 Girls Red Fury, coached by Katie McMahon and Jim McGovern, won their season closer against Castleford Stingrays 5-2. The Red Fury started the game on a high after winning last week against undefeated Joe Palumbo. The first goal of the game was started by Rachel Richardson, who took a shot on goal that was caught and bobbled by the goalie. Unfortunately for Castleford, Maeve Yox followed Rachel's shot and finished the ball in the net. More shots on goal continued by Kate Masters, Maeve Yox, Lauren Monachelli, Grace McGovern, and Rose Ritz. Goalie Meghan McMahon looked a little lonely because defensive players Sofia Cruz, Samantha Taylor and Swara Ketkar rarely let the ball get past them.
The Fury came out strong in the 2nd half and continued to pound the Castleford goalie. Shots were made by Rachel Richardson, Maeve Yox, Sofia Cruz and Grace McGovern. Rachel was able to finish a shot on goal by Meghan McMahon, giving the Fury a 2-0 lead. Meghan McMahon then scored back-to-back goals -- one goal by carrying the ball the full length of the field. The Fury's final goal was landed by Maeve Yox just seconds before the final whistle was blown. Great goalkeeping by Maiyumi Marcus - Kanesaka helped secure the win.
The Fury finished their fall season 4-4.
2009 Boys United, coached by John Patino celebrated 8-3 win against Harrison Rapids. United played strong against their opponent. The whole team had great chemistry from communicating, passing, and having control of the ball. Jhossep Murillo and Kellen McGuire had an outstanding goalie performance, diverting shots on goal from our opponents.
Goals were tallied by Hagai Frechter , Peter Neacsu , Mateo Patino, and Caesar Blanco. Strong defense performed by Kyle Delucia, Robert Prisco, Joseph Ruiz. The boys worked together and had some amazing passes, assisted by Jayden De la Cruz, Dylan Star, Leandro Santorum.
United have clinched their division, the boys deserve all the credit for this Phenomenal run for getting out every Sunday pouring their heart on the field with determination hard work, positive attitude and teamwork.
November 17, at 1:30 United will play against Chappaqua-Turbo 1:30 at the Hackley School field.
2009 Boys Red Lions fell 1-0 on the road against the Manhattan Boca. They finish their season on their home Hackley School field with a 3pm game against Scarsdale Juventus. The Red Lions have a 3-2-3 record in division 1 of their age group and are coached by Brad Scheller.
2008 Girls Red Comets faced Harrison’s Dynamo team for a very close match up Sunday. The game had an exciting start and gradually got more thrilling as it went on. Striker, Ava Mendez, got past the Dynamo defense and scored the first goal of the game. But Harrison answered back to tie it up. In the second half, the Comets had Greta Wuerffel in goal for the first time and she did a spectacular job stopping several shots on goal from Harrison. Greta’s performance and the Comets defense held back Harrison from scoring again and ended the game in a nail biting tie 1-1.
The Red Comets ended this season at 4-3-1 and are coached by Chris Junge and Lisa Fanelli. In photos: striker, Cassie Junge; striker, Ava Mendez; team photo.
2008 Boys Fusion
The undefeated Fusion travelled to the John Jay Purple and immediately set an aggressive fast-paced tone . A flurry of attempts by Luke Tonaj hit the crossbar or were blocked by the Purple goalie before pressure by Tonaj and Ian Papadopoulos created confusion and a Purple own goal. A booming kick from goalie Pierce Davis sailed downfield, creating a breakaway opportunity for Papadopoulos to score, making it 2-0. Davis would save several other attempts as first-half goalie. Consistent pressure from forwards Kieran Degen, Jaiden Brito and Sean Mackiewicz paid off with a Mackiewicz goal. Tonaj would score a few minutes later thanks to a well-placed corner kick by Sebastian Londono. The scoring margin would increase to 5 when Raul Socualaya scored off the Purple goalie’s defensive error. Just before halftime, Fusion would make it 6-0 when Degen outran his defenders and placed the ball into the goal’s corner.
Not wanting to increase the 6-goal margin, Fusion would focus on defense in the second half as well as shuffle players to play in new positions. Edwin Dutan and Bruno Flores turned in excellent performances, on both offense and defense. Olin Keough and Shyam Manjanath demonstrated hustle and played hard to ensure that Fusion would hold the shutout. Dutan and Papadopoulos took turns in Fusion’s goal and thwarted several solid John Jay attempts.
This win keeps Fusion undefeated and in first place going into their final game on Sunday November 17 at 12noon at Hackley School field against the Eastchester Typhoon, who sit just one point behind them in the division standings.
2008 Boys River Sharks won 3-0 at home against the Munay Red. They finish their fall season on the road against the Don Bosco Hawks Hurricanes on November 17. The River Sharks, currently with a 5-2-1 record, are coached by Ed Greenberg, Gerardo Soto and Michael Glynn. They sit in third place of their division 2 of their age group.
2007 Girls Blaze
Soccer, often called "the beautiful game", can be a hard game to predict. For instance, this past Sunday, the #1 and #2 offenses in the WYSL U13 premier girls division squared off as the second place Sleepy Hollow Blaze traveled to Chappaqua to take on the Cheetahs. However, what ensued was a beautiful hard-fought defensive struggle in which the Cheetahs prevailed 1 - 0.
The Blaze's starting front line of Lizzie and Kimmie Molina, Sami Marvin, and Gemma Fante created some beautiful chances for themselves playing as a team and making crisp short passes as they'd been taught, but at each instance shots were caught by the Cheetah keeper, or blocked by a Chapaqua defender. Midfielders Ellie Fox, Kayla McGuigan, and Lilly Wurster played both defense and offense beautifully, helping intercept passes on the defensive side of the field, and both driving and passing the ball forward when attacking. On the defensive side of the ball, starting Blaze defenders Juliana Marvin, Gabby Disney, Penny McVey, and Zoey Murphy played beautifully well as a unit and backed each other up allowing teammates to challenge Cheetah attacks further from the goal. The Blaze's best scoring chance came with just minutes remaining in the half when a free kick by Kayla McGuigan from outside the goalie box hit the cross bar, and Penny McVey's shot on the rebound was knocked aside by a Chappaqua defender. The first half, played at an exhausting up and down the field pace, ended 0 - 0.
Blaze coaches John Sutherland, Jim Wurster and Annette O'Hanlon freely subbed players in and out while continuing their young charges to play at a fast pace. Meghan O'Hanlon twice thwarted Cheetah attacks near the side line, and was able to recover and pass the ball up field. Samantha Mendietta had two nice passes to Blaze teammates playing forward, and Jhoselyn Pugo intercepted one Chappaqua pass and passed to Daisy Starr after successfully challenging a dribbling Cheetah player on the Blaze side of the field. The sole goal of the day was made with less than 2 minutes to play on a penalty kick in the box that went past the fingertips of the diving Blaze goalie Emily Aridas. Emily had 9 saves on the day, but this one was just beyond her outstretched arms.
The Cheetahs clinched first place for the season with their victory. In a beautiful display of sportsmanship after playing the beautiful game, the Blaze lined up to congratulate the victors, who in turn congratulated the Blaze on pushing them to the limit.
The Blaze will be looking to secure second place next week when they have their final match of the season on Sunday against the Munay Earthquakes in a 12:45 match on the pitch at Washington Irving.
2007 Boys Dynamo had finished their season with a 4-0 loss on the road against the Castleford Titans. Coached by Alberto Blanco, they finished the season with a 2-6 record in their division.
2007 Boys Dutchmen prevailed 3-0 at home against the Chappaqua Cosmos . They conclude their fall season on November 17 with a 3pm game at Sleepy Hollow High School against the West Side Red Bulls. The Dutchmen are in second place of their division 2 with a 4-1-3 record and are coached by Howard Allen.
2006 Girls Storm won 1-0 on the road against the Manhattan Rockets. They conclude their season with a 11am home game against the Mahopac Strikers at Washington Irving School Field. With a 4-3-1 record in Division 1 of their age group, the Storm are coached by Kevin Richardson, Tom Andruss, and Deepak Kapoor.
2006 Boys Firebolts, coached by Matt Weidner, won 2-1 on the road against the FC Transylvania Barca White. On November 17, they conclude their season on the road against the John Jay Purple. The Firebolts are 3-4-1 in Division 2 of their age group.
2006 Boys Warriors played to a 2-2 tie on the road against the New Rochelle Arrows. On November 17, they conclude their fall season with a 2:30pm home game against the JPSC Fire at Washington Irving School.
2005 Girls Cyclones
With only 11 players, the Cyclones took to the field to play their final fall game against Pelham Blaze. After a difficult loss last week, they came ready to play, and play they did. They dominated much of the game, keeping the ball in the offensive side of the field. After many shots on goal, Y. Motta took a shot from the 40 yard line. The shot was high and to the left, and although the goalie tried to grab it, it went through her hands and into the net. The Cyclones did not let up pressure and minutes later, A. Santos delivered a beautiful pass to L. Lopez, she in turn shot the ball, low and to the opposite corner of the goalie, putting the Cyclones up 2-0. The defensive line did a great job keeping the ball out of our defensive third for much of the half. The Cyclones would walk off at half-time ahead.
The Cyclones knew they had to keep composure and not take the lead for granted. Early in the second half Y. Motta’s throw-in, a force in its own right, found A. Santos. A. Santos saw C. O’Hanlon open and sent a well-played ball to C. O’Hanlon to tip into the goal. Ahead by three, the Cyclones did not falter. L. Lopez continually pressured the goalie with each shot the Cyclones made. That tenacity paid off as Lily quickly controlled a poor goalie’s punt and lobbed the ball over the goalie’s head. The Cyclone’s final goal was scored by C. O’Hanlon on a breakaway. Even with pressure from behind and the goalie coming out, C. O’Hanlon kept her composure and as a result, her shot found the back of the net. The Blaze scored their two goals off of well-placed penalty shots. The final score 5-2 Cyclones.
2005 Boys Red Legends remain undefeated and clinched the division title with a 4-1 dominant win over a talented White Plains team. Dylan Orellana was first to strike off a quick direct kick from 40 yards out. Dylan shot quickly before White Plains could set up. The keeper was surprised, didn’t know where he was standing, and assumed the ball was sailing over the cross bar and didn’t want to risk a tip that would lead to a corner kick. He let the ball pass over his hands not realizing he was outside the goal and Dylan’s shot slipped under the cross bar and demoralized the White Plains squad. Christopher Panjon scored next giving the Red Legends a comfortable lead until White Plains made it interesting off a defensive lapse. The Red Legends responded like they have all season with a third goal from Aiden Smith and a final goal from Dylan Orellana.
The Red Legends are the first Sleepy Hollow FC team to win the Premier division and they are Westchester county champions. They still have one more game to play Saturday against Port Chester followed by a party to celebrate the season. Their name will be enshrined on the Champions Cup on display at Main Street Sweets.
JV Boys Los Gauchos won 7-2 at home against the Port Chester Jaguars. On November 17, they conclude their fall season with a 9am home game at Washington Irving turf field against the Deportivo Yonkers Red Bulls. Los Gauchos have an even 4-4 record in the Premier League of their Junior Varsity division.
Varsity Girls Mustangs placed themselves in the driver’s seat to earn division 1 championship against visiting Riverdale United with a 2-0 win. The girls started slow from a late night “sweet 16” hangover, committing several unforced turnovers and refusing to keep the ball on the ground and play to their strength of possession soccer. After allowing a few early corner kicks the Mustangs settled down and took control of the ball and the game. They soon earned several corner kicks and eventually Britany Alban connected with Sophia Khosrowshahi for the first score. Annie Dineen just missed scoring off another Alban corner kick with a header that went over the cross bar. Juliana Largess was dominant from her right wing position and sent a perfect cross that opportunistic Abi Oppenheimer knocked into the net for the final score and a comfortable half time lead. The Mustangs continued to play well in the second half and their deep bench wore out the visitors as they continued to press till the final whistle. The mustang defense of Emma Clarke, Annie Dineen, Maya Weitzen, Talia Fante, Vanessa Silva and keepers Olivia Hille and Alicia Carvalho-Evans earned their second straight shutout.
The Mustangs finish the fall mini season against Somers on Sunday. A win or a tie with clinch first place in division 1.
