YMCA In Tarrytown To Be Turned Into Affordable Housing
The developer said the facade of the 1928 building will be preserved.

TARRYTOWN, NY — The Tarrytown YMCA building was sold for $6.45 million and will be turned into affordable housing.
Real estate brokerage company RM Friedland said, in a news release, the building was purchased by Wilder Balter Partners Inc., a real estate developer in Chappaqua.
Wilder Balter plans to redevelop the four-story brick building into 109 units of affordable housing and additional parking for local merchants. The facade of the 93-year-old building will be preserved.

John Barrett, managing director – investment sales division of RM Friedland, said the deal was a partnership between the YMCA, RM Friedland, Wilder Balter, Tarrytown Merchants Council and village government.
"We all came together to see what was really important to the village while preserving affordable housing," he said.

The YMCA property is a 41,537-square-foot building originally constructed in 1928. Located at 62 Main St., it sits on 1.2 acres.
