Yonkers Man Accused Of Trying To Strike Trooper With Car

GREENBURGH, NY — A police pursuit led to accusations of attempted assault, weapon possession and having stolen property for a Yonkers man.

The New York State Police said, around 2:30 a.m. Monday, troopers tried to stop a 2014 Kia Forte for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law on the northbound Sprain Brook Parkway in the town of Greenburgh.

The driver, later identified as Tylik D. Wilson Brown, 22, of Yonkers, did not comply with the attempted stop and led police on a pursuit.

Wilson Brown left the parkway onto West Cross Street and went into a parking lot where he struck a pole, police said.

Troopers got out of their vehicles trying to arrest Wilson Brown, and he tried to strike a trooper with his car, police said.

The pursuit began again for a short distance before Wilson Brown crashed into a guide rail and fled on foot before being taken into custody with the assistance of the Mount Pleasant Police Department near Broadway Street.

Once in custody, Wilson Brown was provided with medical treatment and taken to Westchester Medical Center by Empress Ambulance service.

Police said the Kia was found to have been reported stolen in Mount Vernon.

Wilson Brown was charged with first-degree attempted assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree criminal mischief, all felonies, and second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while ability impaired – drugs, misdemeanors.

He was arraigned in the Town of Somers Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $50,000 bond.

Wilson Brown is next scheduled to appear before the Town of Mount Pleasant Court Dec. 3.
