150 Evacuated, 1 Hurt After Chemical Spill At Mount Sinai: FDNY

Some 150 people were temporarily evacuated after a chemical spill at Mount Sinai's medical school, the FDNY said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A chemical spill injured a firefighter and forced 150 people to evacuate Wednesday at Mount Sinai's medical school, the FDNY said.

Sodium butoxide spilled on the 19th floor at a lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai about 10:40 a.m., a department spokesman said.

Three floors of people were forced to evacuate and a firefighter suffered minor injuries, the spokesman said.
