4 Top Reasons to Train Your Dog

  • Strengthen the Human Animal Bond – Using Positive Reinforcement Training Methods you’ll build a pathway of communication between you and your dog. You and your dog will learn to think together, each giving space to the other allowing for shared communication, thinking and action. This kind of learning will guide your dog into making the right choices when it comes to what they do. They will do as you ask voluntarily and not out of fear which is what happens with methods that use punishments.
  • Living in Your Human Home – There are skills your dog needs to make living in a human home a success. A few skills are, house training, what to do when the doorbell rings and which toys are okay to chew and which things look like toys and are not okay to chew. I’m sure you can think of others to add to the list.
  • All Kinds of Sociability – Sociability defines fearfulness and aggressiveness towards things which are new or unfamiliar. What’s considered new or unfamiliar is defined by your dog, not you. Some of the new and unfamiliar things your dog may encounter are other dogs, walking surfaces, people, and noises. Socialization is especially important for puppies during certain stages of development, generally 7 to 16 weeks of age. Varied positive interactions can result in a well socialized dog that knows how to approach and learn about things which are new or unfamiliar.
  • Prevention of Problem Behaviors – An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Lessons with a certified dog trainer will help with prevention; it can also help solve behavior problems once they start. Behavior problems include things like jumping on guests, going to the bathroom in the house, chewing the human’s belongings, separation anxiety, aggression and resource guarding.
