Actress Buys UES Duplex In One Of December's Priciest Deals
Actress Christine Baranski spent $2.2 million on the Upper East Side apartment — one of December's top sales, the New York Times reported.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — One of last month's top apartment sales in New York City occurred on the Upper East Side — and the buyer is a face familiar to many TV-watchers and theatergoers.
On Dec. 4, Christine Baranski paid $2.2 million for the duplex at 125 East 74th Street, records show.
The four-bedroom, three-bath co-op unit had been listed for $2.5 million, according to the New York Times, which named it one of December's most notable transactions.

Baranski currently stars in the CBS series The Good Fight, a spinoff of The Good Wife, in which she plays the attorney Diane Lockhart. She is a 15-time Emmy nominee for her television roles, and has won two Tony Awards for her onstage performances.
Baranski's purchase, and others like it, signals some resilience in the neighborhood's real estate market despite steep drops in demand during the pandemic.

In November, the Upper East Side had the most home price drops of any New York City neighborhood — asking prices declined on 171 listings, according to a study by RealtyHop.
The home with the single biggest price drop in November was also on the Upper East Side. A 13th-floor apartment at 1040 5th Ave., just north of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, had its listing price reduced by a whopping $7.4 million that month, the study found.
