Developer Files Plans For 22-Story Upper East Side Building
The building will contain 139 apartment units and space for retail businesses.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A developer has filed plans with the city Department of Buildings to build a 22-story, mixed-use development blocks away from Carl Shurz Park.
The 107,090-square-foot development will be located at 511 E. 86th St. between East End and York avenues, according to building plans. The development will rise 235-feet-tall and contain 139 apartment units, according to the plans.
With an allotted 102,095 square feet for residential zoning, the average apartment unit in the new building will be approximately 734 square feet large. The new development will also feature amenities such as an exercise facility, a roof deck and bike storage, according to building plans.

The new development will be vastly larger than the last structure on the property. The developer filed plans to demolish an existing four-story walkup building, which were approved earlier this month, according to plans filed with the Department of buildings.
The firm Arquitectonica is listed as the new building's architect, but there's no indication as to what the new structure will look like.
