Developers Reveal Assisted Living Facility On UES: Reports
The new facility, which will have about 130 units, will replace six buildings on York Avenue between East 85th and 86th streets.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Developers released rendering that provide the first glimpse of a new Upper East Side assisted living facility that will rise 14 stories and take up half of a block, according to reports.
The Engel Burman Group and H2M Architects + Engineers are planning what appears to be a luxury facility on York Avenue between East 85th and 86th streets that will house about 130 residential units. Renderings released by the development team to New York YIMBY show a building with a brick and stone facade, a high awning covering a double-door entrance and a decorative rooftop.
Developers filed plans in late October to demolish six adjacent low-rise buildings on 1622-1632 York Avenue that occupy the site of the future development. In August, the same developer filed plans to construct a 14-story assisted living facility at the location.

The planned new development will rise 170-feet-tall and function as a long-term care facility, according to plans filed with the Department of Buildings. People living in the facility will have access to amenities such as common space on every floor, a fitness room, a beauty salon and a dining room on the building's 14th floor. The facility will also have a floor dedicated to inpatient treatment rooms, according to development plans.
The Engel Burman Group bought the six low-rise buildings that occupy the site of the future facility for $46.5 million in July. The buildings hit the market in 2016 and were previously owned by the estate of Jacques Chretien.
