Farinella Pizza To Reopen On UES Months After Closure
A note appeared in the window of the shuttered pizza place saying the business is back by "popular demand"

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Upper East Side pizza spot Farinella is getting a second lease on life after shutting down for a few months, according to a note posted recently in the Lexington Avenue business' window.
"Back by popular demand. Farinella will be reopening soon," the note reads.
When the pizzeria will reopen is a mystery. Other than the hopeful note in the window, the storefront showed no signs of being ready for business. Stacks of cardboard boxes are currently taking up most of the business' floor space. An attempt to call the pizzeria's former number revealed that the number is offline.

The Lexington Avenue and East 79th Street pizza spot closed in October after 10 years in business on the Upper East Side. The owners also announced the closure with a note in the window, saying that the pizzeria was up for sale.
"It was all a dream..." the note written by owner Alberto Cretara reads. "After nearly a decade serving the beautiful people of the Upper East Side and Midtown East, Farinella Pizza Bakery regretfully informs you that we are closing our doors."

The Upper East Side is chock-full of pizzerias, but Farinella stood out for its unique preparation. Instead of baking New York-style pizza pies, the Lexington Avenue store turned out Roman-style palams, a type of oval pie with a thin crust.
In a 2014 interview with amNew York, Cretara said he relocated his business to the Upper East Side from TriBeCa to be based in a more family-friendly area.
