Flying Tiger Variety Store Closing UES Shop, All US Locations
The Danish home goods and toy store Flying Tiger Copenhagen is closing all U.S. locations, including one on the Upper East Side.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The Danish home goods and toy store Flying Tiger Copenhagen is closing all of its U.S. locations, including a shop on the Upper East Side, the company announced this week.
The shop, on Third Avenue between 73rd and 74th streets, first opened in 2016, the company's second location in the U.S. By this year, Flying Tiger operated more than 950 locations in 29 countries, including shops in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
Flying Tiger promoted tasteful but affordable home decor, with most products designed in-house.

The company said in a Facebook post Wednesday that the pandemic had been "a bigger struggle for us than we could have ever imagined," forcing it to close all of its U.S. stores.
An employee at the Upper East Side location said Thursday that the store would close sometime in the end of November or in early December.

The store will offer sales through next week, the employee said, and customers are urged to redeem gift cards before Nov. 20.
