Happy Mother’s Day From Devan Carey

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 13, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Devan Carey's letter to her mom:

My mom is the smartest and most rebellious mom any daughter or son could have. My mom’s life has been full of success, from her business of making products for those with skin problems to what she does at home, taking care of two children who love her for what she does and is.

My mom has been on TV, and I love that she is fearless enough to go onto live TV and say her opinions, which might as well be facts when she says them. I am so lucky to have her as my mom because without her, who would I be right now? Why would I write this letter to you if it wasn’t for a meaning?

My mom is the most courageous and loving mom I could ask for. When things are down for me, my mom always finds a way to bring me back to earth. My mom always finds the beauty in things that people originally might not call "beautiful."

My mom does things to help others. She helps others more than she helps herself, and that is the beauty in her: She puts others’ health above hers!

If you could choose to have a mom like someone else’s, I bet you would choose her, once you talked to her for a while. She will make you smile as bright as the sun until she walks out of the room. My mom is everything to me, and that’s all I need for my birthday.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. You deserve everything that the world gives you and you deserve all this success that is happening to you this moment. I love you!
