UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An Upper East Side penthouse owned by Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is in contract to sell, and the deal could mean a multi-million dollar loss for the star, according to reports and real estate listings.

A new buyer has entered into a contract for the penthouse apartment at The Laurel, a 30-story condo building on the corner of First Avenue and East 67th Street, according to a realtor.com listing. The deal, which has not closed, was reached back in February, luxury real estate publication Mansion Global first reported.

Lawrence first listed the property at $15.4 million in July 2019 before knocking down the asking price to $14.2 million in August and $12 million in November. Profit never seemed to be the motive for selling the property, as the actress bought the home in 2016 for $15.6 million, according to city real estate records. Lawrence purchased the apartment through a company called Monster 40 LLC, according to the records.
