Longtime UES Burger Joint To Be Replaced By Another: Report
The Upper East Side storefront that housed Burger Heaven for decades will soon be occupied by the chain Smashburger, according to a report.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A new tenant is moving into the Upper East Side space that for decades housed the diner Burger Heaven — and its focus will be much the same as the old place.
The fast-casual chain Smashburger has signed a lease for the storefront at 802 Lexington Ave., on the corner of East 62nd Street, according to the Commercial Observer.
Burger Heaven closed its shop on Lexington and 62nd in February 2020 — the last remaining location in a chain that grew from its 1943 founding to operate eight diners around Manhattan.

Business owner Dimitri Dellis told the New York Times last year that today's customers prefer to grab-and-go or order in rather than sit down to eat at a restaurant like Burger Heaven.
Indeed, that may be what customers will get at Smashburger, a national chain based in Denver that serves up quick-seared burgers topped with custom ingredients.
