Man Assaults Woman In UES Whole Foods, Police Say

Police asked for help identifying a man accused of groping a woman inside an Upper East Side Whole Foods supermarket last week.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police asked for help this week identifying a man who allegedly groped a woman last week in a Whole Foods Market on the Upper East Side.

The assault happened around 4 p.m. on April 20, as the victim, a 52-year-old woman, was putting an object back on the shelf.

As she did so, she felt someone grab her thigh and genitals, then saw a man walking away, police said.

Police released surveillance images of the man on Thursday, apparently showing him checking out inside the same supermarket.

Police asked anyone with information about his identity to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). People can also submit tips online or on Twitter, @NYPDTips.
