Person Killed By Train On UES, Manhattan-Queens Service Stopped

UPPER EAST SIDE, MANHATTAN — A person was fatally hit by a train on the Upper East Side-Midtown border on Friday morning, transit officials said.

The person was hit by a train near Lexington Avenue-59th Street station just after 11:30 a.m., according to an MTA tweet. Officials said around noon that the person had died.

Transit officials stopped N and W trains between 57th Street-Seventh Avenue station and Queensboro Plaza in Queens while they helped the person, the tweet said

There was also extremely limited N and W service between Queensboro Plaza and Ditmars Boulevard, officials said.

For alternate service along 59th Street in Manhattan, officials said straphangers should use nearby E/M stations along 53rd Street or the 6 train where it connects Lexington Avenue-59th Street to the E/M at Lexington Avenue-53rd Street and Grand Central.
