UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Mexican restaurant Tacombi will open its newest location on the Upper East Side after securing a 15-year lease for a space in a neighborhood luxury development.

Tacombi will occupy a 3,752-square-foot space on the ground floor of The Fairfax, a luxury rental building that takes up the entirety of Third Avenue between East 69th and 70th streets. The taqueria is expected to open by summer 2020.

"As Tacombi continues to grow throughout New York, we take care to select locations that complement our brand - The Fairfax, a beautiful building with great character in a wonderful neighborhood checks all of the boxes for us. We can’t wait to open our doors to our neighbors and share the Tacombi experience" Joe Iazzetta, chief development officer of Tacombi, said in a statement.

Tacombi's location within The Fairfax development will be on East 70th Street. The space, which was formerly a medical office, is currently being renovated to include features such as a re-skinned facade and clerestory windows that will let more light into the space and showcase its tall cielings.

The menu at Tacombi features a variety of tacos and quesadillas with starters, fresh pressed juices and other beverages. Taco flavors are inspired by trips the restaurant's chef took to Mexico's 31 states. Tacombi was founded in 2005 out of a Volkswagen bus repurposed into a taco truck on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
