UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The Upper East Side is one of New York City's most competitive real estate markets. The neighborhood is home to some of the most sought-after addresses, streets lined with pricey townhouses and glitzy apartment buildings.

Properties on the Upper East Side regularly sell for eight-figure sums, making it a hotbed for luxury real estate action. But some of the neighborhoods glitziest property actually aren't for sale. With an abundance of six- and five-figure rental properties, the Upper East Side boasts some of the most expensive rentals in New York City.

Asking price: $500,000/month

At an asking price of $500,000 per month 795 Fifth Avenue Apartment 39 is by far the most expensive rental on the Upper East Side. Renting this pad out for a standard one-year lease will put you back $6 million — enough money to purchase most luxury listings.

The apartment unit occupies an entire floor of the posh Pierre Hotel, which means tenants not only get to rent out a luxury apartment but also gain access to all the perks of living in a five-star hotel.

Asking price: $125,000/month

This listing is also located in the Pierre Hotel, but compared to the last it's a steal at just $125,000 per month.

Asking price: $88,000/month combined; $58,000/month triplex only; $33,500/month duplex only.

This listing — a triplex unit combined with a duplex unit — is perfect whether you're looking to live large on your own or accommodate a large family. The eight-bedroom, eight-and-a-half bathroom property is housing in a "landmarked" and "spectacular" townhouse on a quaint, tree-lined block, according to realtor.com.

Asking price: $85,000/month
