New York Road Runners Sell UES Townhouse For $10M, Report Says

The organization behind the New York City Marathon and other races used the building as a headquarters.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The nonprofit that organizes the New York City Marathon and other road races around the five boroughs has sold its former Upper East Side headquarters to a neighborhood synagogue, according to reports and city records.

The New York Road Runners offloaded a five-story townhouse at 9 E. 89th St. — located between Fifth and Madison avenues — to Park Avenue Synagogue for $10.9 million, according to public records. The deal was first reported by Commercial Observer.

Park Avenue Synagogue, located on East 87th Street between Park and Madison Avenues, currently runs a learning center next door to the building, Commercial Observer reported. The building has been on the market since 2014 after New York Road Runners outgrew the space and moved its headquarters to a Midtown office tower, according to the report.
