ROOSEVELT ISLAND, NY — The largest LGBTQ pride flag in New York City will debut at Roosevelt Island's Four Freedoms Park this weekend during the WorldPride celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, park officials said.

The flag will be painted on the 12-by-100-foot staircase at Four Freedoms Park and will be on display from Friday, June 14 through the end of the month, according to the Four Freedoms Park Conservancy. The park will hold an official celebration on Saturday, June 15 featuring food trucks, Drag Queen Story Hour and the VideOut, a digital platform that shares people's coming out stories.

Four Freedoms Parks' flag will "celebrate the progress that’s been made over the past 50 years, and to shine a light on the LGBTQ community’s continued fight for the universal human rights articulated in President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms Speech: freedom of speech & expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear," according to the park conservancy's website.
