NYPD Officers Help Deliver Baby Girl On The Upper East Side
The officers helped a woman deliver her baby after she realized she didn't have time to get to the hospital

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Two New York Police Department traffic officers helped deliver a baby girl in a car on Sunday after the infant's parents realized they didn't have time to drive to the hospital.
An Upper East Side woman went into labor at her home on Sunday morning, and she and her husband quickly left their home to drive to the hospital, police said. The couple realized that they wouldn't have enough time to drive to the hospital before the baby arrived, and called 911 for assistance from their parked car.
Two police officers, Stephen Koustoubardis and Vincent Ching, responded to the call and helped the woman deliver her baby in the front seat of the car, police said. The officers responded to the 911 call at about 8 a.m. on Sunday.

"At that time, we were flagged down by the husband that was already with her at the driver's side of the vehicle and pretty much delivering the baby in labor at that moment, and I stepped in and assisted the husband," Koustoubardis told CBS.
The woman and her new baby were transported to a nearby hospital after the delivery. Koustoubardis and Ching stopped by the hospital later in the day and found the mother and the new baby in good health.
