P. Diddy's Former Upper East Side Mega Mansion Hits Market
The Bad Boy Records founder and rapper P. Diddy owned the 12-story building from 1999 to 2004.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An Upper East Side mega mansion lingering in real estate purgatory is back on the market. The 12-story home, once owned by hip hop mogul P. Diddy, was re-listed for $39 million earlier this month.
The Bad Boy Records founder and rapper purchased 807 Park Avenue, located between East 74th and 75th streets, in 1999 , according to records filed with the city. Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, bought the building for $12 million after living in an apartment there for about a year with the intention of creating a single-family mega mansion, Curbed reported.
But Diddy soon abandoned his Upper East Side project.

In 2004 Diddy was able to sell the building for a profit, according to city records. He sold the building to an entity called 813 Park Avenue Holdings LLC for $14.3 million, according to the records. The LLC was reportedly a subsidiary of Aion Partners, who planned on converting the building into three four-story condos but its plans were shot down by the city Landmarks Preservation Committee, Curbed reported.
A revised proposal — to convert the building into two triplex units and three duplex units — was eventually approved by the LPC in 2015, but it appeared Aion had enough of the seemingly-cursed property, Curbed reported. In March 2016 the building was listed for sale as a single-family home for $30 million. After a year sitting on the market the asking price was bumped $9 million.
