Person Killed Jumping in Front of Train at 77th Street Station: FDNY

There were a smattering of delays due to the suicide early Wednesday morning.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The FDNY said a man was killed jumping in front of a 6 train at the 77th Street station Wednesday morning.

The FDNY said the man was pronounced dead at the scene at about 8 a.m.

The suicide during the height of the morning commute was causing a handful of problems on the 4, 5, and 6 trains, according to the MTA. However, by 9:30 a.m., the MTA said police had cleared the situation and normal service was slowly returning.

The MTA said to expect extensive delays on the 4, 5, and 6 lines.

Earlier issues had seen the 6 train running express between 125 Street and Grand Central-42 Street in both directions. Some southbound 4 and 5 trains running local from Grand Central-42 Street to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, and some southbound 5 trains running on the 2 line from 149 Street-Grand Concourse to Nevins Street.
