Plans Filed to Convert Upper East Side Storage Facility Into Luxury Apartment Building

Eight more spacious apartment units will be coming to the Upper East Side.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Plans have been filed with the city Department of Buildings to convert a 10-story storage building on the Upper East Side into an apartment complex containing a small number of spacious units.

The building plans, filed in July, would change 305 East 61st Street from a low-hazard storage building into a mixed residential and commercial facility. The building will remain 10 stories, but the building height will be raised from 136 feet to 160 feet, according to the building plans. The building will contain eight residential units spanning 50,916 square feet, which means each unit would contain about 6,364.5 square feet. The unit side and Upper East Side location signals that these would most likely be luxury units.

The building will also have 15,321 square feet dedicated to commercial space, according to building plans. The building's basement and first floor are planned for retail space and the second floor is planned for offices. The rest of the floors will contain one large apartment unit and the roof will contain a terrace.
