Plans Filed for New 30-Story Apartment Complex on the Upper East Side
A developer filed plans with the Department of Buildings to build a 30-story, 63 unit apartment complex on 80th Street and Second Avenue.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A new apartment mega tower could be coming to the Upper East Side. Developer Icon Realty Management filed plans Tuesday with the Department of Buildings to construct a 30-story apartment tower on the corner of East 80th Street and Second Avenue.
The apartment complex, located at 301 E. 80th St., will rise 438 feet and house 63 apartment units, according to the building plans. The plans call for 199,600 square feet of residential space, meaning the average size of an apartment unit will be 3,168 square feet. An additional 8,945 feet are zoned for commercial space on the building's first floor.
The building will include several amenities open to tenants such as a basketball court, yoga studio, exercise room, child play room, game room, bike storage and party room, according to the building plans.

The space was previously occupied by a four-story mixed residential and commercial building. A plan filed by Icon Realty Management to fully demolish the building was approved by the Department of Buildings in February, and it looks like the site is currently an empty lot as of May 2016.
