Russian Billionaire Alters UES Megamansion Plans, Report Says

Russian steel magnate Roman Abramovich brought updated construction plans before the city Landmarks Preservation Commission.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A Russian billionaire has updated his plans to build a megamansion on the Upper East Side after scooping up a fourth townhouse on a stretch of East 74th Street, New York YIMBY first reported.

Roman Abramovich, who made an estimated $9.6 billion fortune in the Russian steel industry, is now planning to combine 9, 11 and 13 E. 74th streets into one huge mansion, YIMBY reported. The oligarch had previously planned to combine 11, 13 and 15 E. 74th streets, but recently purchased 9 E. 74th St. for $28.7 million, according to public real estate records.

Many elements of the proposed megamansion have remained the same, except that now certain renovations are shifted one building over, YIMBY reported. The plan involvs standardizing the appearance and proportions of 9 and 11 E. 74th streets and making alterations to 13 E. 74th St., according to YIMBY.
