One half of the billionaire Koch brothers was revealed as the mystery buyer behind a $40 million home on East 76th Streets.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Billionaire businessman and conservative mega-donor David Koch was revealed as the mystery buyer of an Upper East Side mansion that closed for more than $40 million, according to reports.
The Koch Industries executive dropped a whopping $40.25 in cash on a double-townhouse mansion on East 76th Street in one of the most expensive single-home real estate transactions of the year, the New York Post first reported. The home, created by combining two townhouses on East 76th Street between Park and Lexington avenues, was initially listed at an asking price of $51 million, according to a listing on realtor.com.
The home was previously owned by real-estate investor Joseph Chetrit and was put on the market in November of 2017, the Wall Street Journal first reported.

Chetrit acquired the property in 2007 when he bought six adjacent townhouses on East 76th Street between Park and Lexington avenues from Lenox Hill Hospital for $26 million in 2007, the Wall Street Journal reported. The investor combined the six homes into three mansions, according to the report.
