UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Representatives from one of New York City's biggest development firms will meet with Community Board 8 on Tuesday night during a public meeting to discuss two planned full-block developments in the neighborhood.

Community Board 8's housing and zoning committees will host Extell Development to "hear recommendations from the neighbors, the community, and the members of the Community Board" regarding two planned developments on First Avenue, according to flyers posted by the board around the neighborhood.

Extell is in the midst of demolishing low-rise buildings on the sites between East 85th and 86th streets and East 79th and 80th streets, but no plans have been filed for either development site that provide specifics on what could be built. The developer is no stranger to doing business on the Upper East Side. Extell is the developer behind The Lucida, which occupies a full block of Lexington Avenue, and The Kent, which occupies a full block of Third Avenue.

In March 2018, Extell Development's Gary Barnett told real estate publication The Real Deal that he plans to develop a mixed-use building with at least 250,000 square feet of buildable space on First Avenue between East 79th and 80th streets. In May, Extell struck a deal with the Church of Saint Monica to add as much as 100,000 square feet in air rights to the planned development.

The developer has not revealed its plans for the site between East 85th and 86th streets.
