UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The ultra-swanky apartment belonging to the son of one of New York City's most ignominious names has sold for $5.4 million, according to 6sqft.

The home of Andrew Madoff, son of jailed Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff, was sold last week for a half million dollars under its asking price, 6sqft said. Andrew Madoff died of lymphoma in September 2014 at 48 years old. The five-bedroom apartment, which filled an entire floor at 433 E. 74th St., went on the market in February for $5.87 million.

Andrew was never prosecuted along with his father, although he worked for the company. Andrew and his brother Mark, who committed suicide in 2010, were actually responsible for giving up their father to federal agents in December 2008. Bernie Madoff was jailed for the Ponzi scheme he ran that cheated thousands of people out of $65 billion.
