Upper East Side Leads Manhattan In Vaccination Rates, Data Shows
More than 40,000 Upper East Side residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, new city data shows.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — More Upper East Side residents have been fully or partly vaccinated for the coronavirus than any other neighborhood in Manhattan as the city's campaign leaves behind areas that have been harder-hit by the virus, according to newly released data.
Five ZIP codes on the Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island have led the pack in Manhattan, with more than one in 10 residents having received both doses of the vaccine. Only City Island in the Bronx and an area of northeast Queens have higher rates.
Meanwhile, large swaths of Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx have 5 percent or fewer residents who received partial COVID-19 vaccinations, despite suffering more virus cases than more affluent neighborhoods like the Upper East Side.

The highest COVID-19 infection rates in Manhattan do not correspond with the highest vaccination rates. The Upper West Side and Upper East Side ZIP codes all have seven-day positive rates of under 3 percent, according to the latest data from the city.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 positive rates in many Harlem and Washington Heights ZIP codes are currently over 7 percent, but vaccination rates sit between 4 and 6 percent.
