Upper East Side Mansion Sale Tops $40M, Report Says

The property is one of the most expensive New York City townhouses to change hands this year.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An Upper East Side mansion with an asking price of $51 million has sold in the $40 million range, making it one of the most expensive townhouses to change hands in New York City this year, according to reports.

The home — which was created by combining two adjacent townhouses at 110 E. 76th St. — was previously owned by real-estate investor Joseph Chetrit and was put on the market in November of 2017, the Wall Street Journal first reported. The deal closed in early August, a source familiar with the sale told the Journal.

Chetrit acquired the property in 2007 when he bought six adjacent townhouses on East 76th Street between Park and Lexington avenues from Lenox Hill Hospital for $26 million in 2007, the Wall Street Journal reported. The investor combined the six homes into three mansions, according to the report.
