Upper East Side Penthouse Sells For $21.6 Million
The six-bedroom, six-bath duplex is spread across 6,500 square feet and was initially two separate apartments.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An enormous penthouse on Madison Avenue has become the Upper East Side's priciest recent home sale after being purchased for $21.6 million, realtors announced Thursday.
The duplex penthouse on the 14th floor of 1228 Madison Ave. has six bedrooms and six bathrooms spread across 6,5000 square feet — plus a 184-square-foot private terrace.
Initially two separate units, the penthouse was combined into a duplex to "meet the growing demand for private outdoor access and more spacious interiors," according to a spokesperson.

The Madison Avenue building, between East 88th and 89th streets, is a new construction set to welcome its first residents later this year. The entire building includes just 14 apartments.
Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the building was developed by the joint venture CBSK Ironstate.
This week's sale is not the building's highest: a triplex sold late last year for $27.8 million.
