Upper East Side Pharmacies To Vaccinate Seniors For Coronavirus

Thirteen pharmacies on the Upper East Side are now offering COVID-19 vaccine appointments to those 65 and older under a new federal program.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Pharmacies on the Upper East Side are among more than 250 pharmacy locations across the city that are now administering COVID-19 vaccines to seniors.

Thirteen Upper East Side pharmacies are offering vaccination appointments to anyone 65 and older as part of a federal program.

All five pharmacies are offering the Moderna vaccine, according to the city's COVID-19 Vaccine Finder map.

The Federal Retail Pharmacy Program will deliver 26,500 vaccine doses a week to Walgreens, Duane Reade, Costco and Rite Aid pharmacies across New York City, officials announced Thursday.

"Pharmacies are a trusted part of our infrastructure, particularly for seniors who rely on them for medications and other services," Dave Chokshi, the city's health commissioner, said in a statement. "These additional doses will be a lifeline for so many city residents."

Other vaccine sites are also open around the Upper East Side, including at city hospitals and medical clinics. Eligible New Yorkers can book vaccine appointments online at vaccinefinder.nyc.gov.
