Upper East Side's Weekend Subway Service Changes: June 12-13

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — As vaccinations hit millions of arms and the city slowly reopens, New Yorkers are getting back on the subway. In another sign of the return of normality, they're also dealing with a multitude of weekend service changes.

Riders returned to the rails in record numbers this month – on June 9, 2.38 million paid trips were made. That's more than on any day in the past year.

But getting around this weekend is still going to be tough with many lines disrupted in the name of "upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service."

Here's what changes neighbors on the Upper East Side can expect in and around the neighborhood.

STRUCTURAL MAINTENANCE
Jun 12 - 13, Sat 4:45 AM to Sun 11 PM
4 Woodlawn-bound trains skip 138 St-Grand Concourse, 161 St-Yankee Stadium, 167 St, 170 St, Mt Eden Av and 176 St

For 138 St-Grand Concourse, take the 5 instead. Transfer between trains at 149 St-Grand Concourse or 125 St.

For service to 161 St-Yankee Stadium, 167 St, 170 St, Mt Eden Av and 176 St, take the 4 to Burnside Av and transfer to a New Lots Av-bound 4.

For service from these stations, take the 4 to 149 St-Grand Concourse and transfer to a Woodlawn-bound 4.

2 Manhattan-bound trains skip Baychester Av, Gun Hill Rd and Morris Park 5 stations

For service to these stations, take the 2 to Pelham Pkwy or E 180 St ad and transfer to an Eastchester-bound 2.

For service from these stations, take the 2 to Pelham Pkwy or Dyre Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound 2.

Note: 2 trains replace the 5 in the Bronx during this time.

TRACK REPLACEMENT
Jun 11 - 14, Fri 11:30 PM to Mon 5 AM
2 No trains between Chambers St and Flatbush Av
5 Trains replace the 2 in the Bronx

2 trains run between the Dyre Av 5 station and 34 St-Penn Station and via the 1 local to/from South Ferry. Trains run every 12 minutes days and evenings.

5 trains run between the 241 St 2 station and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College, all weekend.
• Trains run express along Lexington Av in Manhattan.

Travel Alternatives:
For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take the 4 5 N Q R.

For Park Place, Fulton St, Wall St, Clark St, Borough Hall and Hoyt St, use nearby 4 5 or R stations instead.

In Brooklyn, take the 5 instead.

For service from these stations, take the 6 to Hunts Point Av and transfer to a Pelham Bay Park-bound 6.

6 Trains run every 16 minutes between 3 Av-138 St and Pelham Bay Park

Q Trains run approximately every 10 minutes, days and evenings

Q service runs on a modified schedule because N Q and R trains are sharing tracks in both directions between DeKalb Av and Canal St.
