White House Chef's UES Restaurant Closes After 5 Months: Reports
Bill Yosses cooked in the White House kitchen during the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An Upper East Side restaurant helmed by a former White House pastry chef is closing just months after it opened its doors, according to reports.
Palais by Perfect Pie was chef Bill Yosses' first attempt at launching a brick-and-mortar restaurant after cooking in the White House kitchen during the Barack Obama and George W. Bush administrations. Yosses is well known for his online pastry business Perfect Pie.
Yosses' restaurant opened five months ago, but closed due to a lack of funding, Eater New York reported. The French restaurant was located on East 61st Street between Lexington and Park avenues and was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Menu items included French classics such as roasted duck breast and items with a more American influence such as flatbread pizza.

A message left with Palais by Perfect Pie was not returned and the business' website appears to be down as of Wednesday morning.
Yossess served as the White House's executive pastry chef for the last year of the Bush administration and most of the Obama administration from 2007 to 2014, according to Perfect Pie's website. During his time at the White House he was involved in First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign against childhood obesity. The chef's background is in French cooking and baking, and his early career was based in some of France's prestigious eateries.
